Bridge laws are some of the most complex regulations encountered by carriers and shippers. Enacted independently by several states, bridge laws limit the distance allowed between tractor and trailer tandems.

The simplest way to comply with state bridge laws is to slide the trailer tandem to the proper "pin setting" for the most restrictive state through which the load will pass. This should be done before the trailer is loaded. Recommended pin settings are shown on the side.

Axle Weight Specifications

1.Axle Weight Limits

When a your tractor-trailer stops at a D.O.T. scale, each of its axle groups is weighed individually. No individual axle group may exceed its authorized weight limit

2.Adjusting Axle Weights

Most of our tractors are equipped  with sliding fifth wheels and all trailers with sliding tandems.

By adjusting the positions of the fifth wheel and the trailer tandems, the weight of the load can be re- distributed among the three axle groups, enabling the maximum weight to be carried, while still complying with axle weight limits.
